Why do I get a -5000 error and a -38 error when I try to save a file in Peak?

This could be because either the permissions on your Scratch Disk are bad, or the permissions on the file you are working on are bad. You will need to check both before you can move on.

You can find out how to reset your Scratch Disks by following this link:

http://www.bias-inc.com/support/faq/cView.php?faq_id=6

If that does not help you will need to check the permissions on the file you are working on.

Locate the file in the Finder and select it by clicking on it once. Then go under the File Menu and choose "Get Info":

Once you have done that, you will see this window come up:

You can see that under "Ownership and Permissions" that you can "Read Only".

You will need to change this to "Read and Write":

If it is "greyed out" like in the picture, you will need to click on the lock to unlock the controls. Once you are done you can click on the lock again to prevent any more changes being made to that file.

Once that is done you should be able to open and save the file.
