Static in mono files recorded with Peak 5.2 on an Intel based Mac computer.

To avoid static when recording mono files with Peak 5.2 on an Intel based Mac you will need to record as a stereo file. Open your copy Peak 5.2 and go to the Audio menu>Record Settings>Device and Sample format. In the Device and Sample format window make sure the "Channels" are set to stereo.

To record as stereo and convert the file to mono:

In Peak Pro 5 there is a one click command for it, go to the DSP menu and choose "Stereo to Mono". It will ask you about the Stereo to Mono conversion and how to Pan, to mix the two sides leave the slider in the middle and hit "OK". Save the file and you are done.

In Peak LE 5, open the stereo file and "Select All" then "Copy". Now go to the menu File>New>Mono Document, when the new mono document appears, do a Paste. It will ask you about the Stereo to Mono conversion and how to Pan, to mix the two sides leave the slider in the middle and hit "OK". Save the file and you are done.

To record as Mono, you can tell Peak 5.2 to run under Rosetta and you will be able to record a mono file without any static.

To accomplish this:

1. Use the Finder to locate the Peak application. Click on the Peak application icon once to highlight it.
2. In the Finder, choose Get Info from the File menu (or CMD-I). The "Info" window will open for Peak 5.2.
3. Make sure the "Open using Rosetta" check box is checked.

   

4. Close the "Get Info" window.

*Keep in mind that you will need to undo this change if you are also using Universal VST and Audio Unit Plug-Ins within Peak 5.2
